Beach Bums

No trip is complete without at least a few days at the beach. The ocean was calling us and long walks on the beach hearing the waves crashing at our feet was magical.

We started with Jekyll Island working our way up the coast to Hunting Island and then Myrtle Beach. While Hunting Island was our favorite the others didn’t disappoint as each had its special moments.

I had no idea driftwood could be so much fun! (Jekyll Island-Driftwood Beach)

An endless, uncrowded pristine beach at Hunting Island made for some spectacular walks, beach reading, shell hunting (Rick found two completely whole sand dollars!), dog walking, and lighthouse viewing.

Actually, all was not completely peaceful here… I did almost get into a beach brawl over an unleashed dog and got called a bitch. I stared her down though and calmly walked away.

We really hated to leave this beautiful place. The whole island is a State Park and therefore unspoiled.

Of course we couldn’t pass by good old Myrtle Beach without spending a few nights going down memory lane remembering family vacations there with the boys and then later with our good friends Rick and Marybeth. And naturally we played a couple of rounds of golf with fighter jets and commercial airliners taking off from the runway across the road and, oh yea, 70s hits playing on big speakers so that you didn’t just walk to the next tee box, you danced!

Rick wants Santa to bring him this putter he saw at the PGA Golf Store…

It’s only $300 used!
