Unexpected Pleasures

Do they let trucks pulling campers on a ferry? Well yes. Yes they do! We had the whole middle row all to ourselves.

We knew the Gulf Coast was going to be spectacular and it sure didn’t disappoint. Starting with the magnificent Big Lagoon State Park near Pensacola with its trail system that was dog friendly and foot friendly (soft, sandy 3 mile loop through the park and along the lagoon).

The rain held off long enough for us to explore the Gulf Islands National Seashore at Fort Pickens, Johnson Beach, and San Rosa. Endless beautiful white sandy beaches and no crowds!

Exploring Fort Pickens-designed and constructed to protect the bay and the Navy Yard from foreign attacks and later was used by the Union Army.

We were lucky enough to witness the Blue Angels practicing in the dies above us on both Tuesday and Wednesday- the 2 days of the week they practice and only from 10:30-11:30 - they’re super loud!
